
Situated 40 kilometers southwest of Suzhou, Dongshan Town is the biggest island at the southeast of Taihu Lake. As a famous tourist attraction, it boasts favorable geographic location, abundant fruit and aquatic products, picturesque scenery, time-honored history. Many buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, an example of refined residences in the south of the Yangtze River Delta still stand in the town. Built by the river, the town is well-known for line-shaped streets, fishbone-shaped districts, traditional residences, special markets and cultural relics.
