
Jinxi Town in Kunshan got its name for a brook which is as beautiful as brocade. In the town, streets and alley are built by the rivers, bridges connect with one another. Attracted by its appeal, scholars, poets and artists gather there. Some important heritages of irrigation and water conservancy dating back to the Tang and Song Dynasties have been preserved including sophisticated water systems and low-lying paddy fields surrounded by dikes. Those heritages represent a masterpiece shape by nature and man. Its well-organized layout and ancient architecture embody a distinctive style of south regions of the Yangtze River.
